The PS2000 FluoroStain Protein Fluorescent Staining Dye (Gold, 100x) is designed to substitute the common Coomassie Blue protein staining method, offering greater sensitivity and ease of operation. This dye is compatible with visualization of proteins separated by 1-D or 2-D SDS-PAGE. The staining procedure is a simple two-step protocol (fix and stain) that can be completed in as little as 30 minutes. Gels to be stained are fixed with ethanol/acetic acid solution prior to staining with FluoroStain Protein Fluorescent Staining Dye (Gold, 100x) solution. A de-staining step is not recommended but may be employed to reduce background.
Gels stained with FluoroStain Protein Fluorescent Staining Dye (Gold, 100x) may be directly visualized with a variety of UV-based fluorescence imaging systems. The bound dye is easily removed from the protein by immersing the gel in sufficient water, making it compatible with subsequent enzymatic digestion and mass spectrometry for proteomics applications.
