Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets | CYP51A1- Cytochrome P450, family 51, subfamily A, polypeptide 1. |
Reactivity | Human |
Relevance | Cytochrome P450, family 51, subfamily A, polypeptide 1 (CYP51A1) encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes that are a group of heme-thiolate monooxygenases. Cytochromes P450 catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. CYP51A1 is an endoplasmic reticulum protein that participates in the synthesis of cholesterol by catalyzing the removal of the 14alpha-methyl group from lanosterol. |
