Epitogen IgM Lyme ELISA Kit, 44 samples

The Epitogen Lyme IgM Test is a novel, peptide-based indirect ELISA kit to accurately detect anti-Borrelia burgdorferi IgM antibodies in human serum or plasma, indicating an immune adaptive response to B. burgdorferi and thus recent or prior Lyme disease infection. This kit offers higher sensitivity than existing assays without sacrificing specificity. This test is especially useful for detecting Lyme disease in patients who receive false negative results on IgG tests.

This cutting-edge kit employs mosaic antigens that are developed using novel EpitoPredikt™ and Epitogen® technologies.  EpitoPredikt™ is used to identify and select 80 immunodominant peptides based on 37 Borrelia antigens. To ensure high specificity, cross-reactive peptides are identified and eliminated. The selected peptides are then fused to Epitogen® constructs, creating the basis of the test. EpitoGen Technology efficiently expresses short epitopes to vastly improve antibody tests. The epitope antigen (EpitoGen) can be fused in the middle of an inert scaffold protein and displayed on the top of the scaffold, making it ideally suited for a number of antigen/antibody-based assays such as ELISA and lateral flow. 

This innovative approach improves specificity by accounting for the heterogenous immune response that patients display to B. burgdorferi on a population level and maximizes the different antibodies to the diverse range of Lyme disease-causing bacteria that can be detected. Because patients produce IgM antibodies in the early stages of Lyme disease infection, the Epitogen Lyme IgM Test is ideal for early detection of Lyme disease.
