The ELISA-VIDITEST anti-VCA EBV (CSF) kit is intended for
in vitro diagnostic procedures in EBV (Epstein-Barr virus)-induced and EBV-associated diseases, such as infectious mononucleosis and the chronic active EBV infection. The test can be used in the diagnosis of Burkitt’s lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, carcinoma of the Waldeyer’s ring and in characterization of opportunistic lymphomas (oligo- and polyclonal). This kit can also be used in characterization of chronic fatigue syndrome, neuroinfection, and immunosuppression that is frequently associated with EBV-reactivation.
This assay is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The wells of polystyrene strips are coated with specific antigens containing immunodominant epitopes of the VCA (viral capsid antigen) complex. Anti-VCA antibodies present in serum/CSF samples bind to the immobilized antigen and are detected with anti-human (IgG) antibodies labeled with horseradish peroxidase. The amount of the bound detection antibodies is measured by the addition of a chromogenic substrate.
