The anti-EBV assays are intended for the diagnosis of EBV-associated diseases, such as infectious mononucleosis, chronic active EBV infection, EBV-related lymphoproliferative disorders and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The tests can also contribute to laboratory examination of immune deficiency syndromes, chronic fatigue syndrome and other conditions when reactivation of latent EBV infection is common.
Laboratory diagnosis is based on EBV infection markers - IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies against VCA, EBNA-1 and EA.
