  • Tomato spotted wilt tospovirus (TSWV) is the type member of the plant-infecting viruses of the genus Tospovirus in the family Bunyaviridae. TSWV is transmitted by thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) to over 650 different plant species in temperate and tropical regions. Once the plants infected with the virus, they result in spotting, wilting, reduced vegetative output and death of the plant. Some of the crops known to be affected by the viruses include, peanuts, watermelons, tomatoes, zucchinis and others.
